SO, My DNA is well-mixed thanks and it's more of a cultural issue than genetic. When adults move, they take their culture with them. When they move en masse, they change the culture to what they are. So southern USA is becoming Mexican.

There's quite a bit of DNA in culture, but it's not the dominant effect. We all have equally well-mixed DNA. It's the nature of existence. It's just that where there hasn't been much miscegenation, there are lots of similar brews. But each individual still has as much DNA as any other individual.

I'm all in favour of genetic engineering and it has been carried out by women forever - selecting favoured Y chromosomes to carry their children. With DNA screening and manipulation, women will be able to do it more precisely, with less guesswork. They'll be able to ditch the DNA they don't want from their spouse and keep the parts they do. Which, judging by a lot of wifely attitudes to husbands means not much would be left.

I have done my share of DNA mixing thanks. I didn't marry my sister so there's a bunch of other stuff in our offspring, different from me. They can mix it up more with others. One daughter has two offspring and two others are due to marry, one a descendant of Genghis by the look of him though he's a Kiwi, the other to some hybrid from European ancestry. I've got Ethiopian in me or some such [as tested by DNA]. So there's enough mongrel in the family to avoid a variety of environmental challenges.

Joking aside, it's true that a lot of people do say "go back where you came from".
