One very interesting change has taken place here. The day after Skylar was shot, the entire area was buzzing with the story. The local high school students were looking over old yearbooks. Everyone talked about it. Since that day, home invasion rates, in our area, instantly fell to zero and stayed there. Where the local newspaper had been reporting home invasions nearly every day, there are now none. The home invaders seem to have gotten this one simple message. It’s not a game. Home invaders get shot. As soon as they realized this simple fact of life, their activities stop. For better or worse, their activities stop. The entire community has become a safer place to live.
