"a new, nonpartisan research and advocacy organization that will press for more teaching of the liberal arts in American public schools."

At the expense of what? It annoys me that in college science and technology undergrads have to take liberal arts classes, including an engineering ethics class, yet liberal arts majors can skate through with no science and no math more challenging that division.

While I love “To Kill a Mockingbird”, is it really more important than knowing some simple physics or chemistry?

The group argues that President Bush’s No Child Left Behind law has impoverished America’s public school curriculum by holding schools accountable for student scores on annual tests in reading and math but in no other subjects.

That's right. Just like everything else Bush has touched so too are American schools fast approaching a crisis. The anti Christ movement has been very effective.
