Higher than us in Canada (20%) but a trend ??

2006 census figures analyzed by Statistics Canada show that one in five people living in Canada are foreign-born, the highest proportion in 75 years.

The Black Swan

BTW Kath & Kim was pretty funny... kinda like an upscale version of Canada's Trailer Park Boys..

Wished I'd married a psychopath.. biggest ho (a rap transplant ?) ... salad stuff masculine mix LOL.. Cherry Toms (delayed reaction before catching that on the second go).. Kath's laughing ... classy Kim LOL.. omigod !! The baby flipping the bird.. Now that brought back a memory... I got cut off once pretty severely with my daughter (maybe 3 and bit ) in the car .. I go f...g a$$...e ... a few days later some guy makes a right turn on red too late and almost clips me.. daughter again in the car ... I go idiot!! (I used to be excitable :O) daughter goes yeah! uccky acksol.. I stopped swearing in the car then :O)

The accent was hard in places: but not worse than Billy Connolly album my wife brought back for me from England in the mid 70's The first dozen times I listened (at least) I kept picking up new bits as I got used to the accent..

still makes me laugh..

"Immigrants" are not fungible. Illegal low-end immigrants go to where the money is, of course. But it's the companies with the brainpower which produce the wealth, and many of the people with the brains are immigrants, but they didn't swim the Rio Grande or sneak through a tunnel.

<Foreign-born residents are 26.9% in California, 20.9% in New York, 18.9% in New Jersey, and 17.9% in both Florida and Hawaii. These are among the most wealthy states per capita. Immigrants go where the jobs are, and many successful businesses are founded by immigrants. >

Unfortunately, there is often an idea that mere weight of numbers is what's needed. As shown by India, Nigeria and Bangladesh there is more to wealth than numbers.

Moving Bangladesh to NZ wouldn't make NZ wealthy, or the Bangladeshis.
