gold is eternal
the reasons for buying and hiding gold are timeless
10,000 years back, and 100,000 years forward

another good reason to own gold is that it is now just 960/oz

The 1990's, while a few years ago, is hardly the "pre-Columbian period" as you claim.

Brazil has recently been experiencing a brief period of relative stability. Let us hope it continues for a while.

Brazil's 30 trillion-fold hyper-inflation, while worse than Wiemar Germany, is nothing to be embarrassed about. It's not record breaking -- Zimbabwe still holds the world record.

I do like the many name changes in the Brazilian Monetary Samba. It's such a complicated dance.

1967 - three zeros are dropped and the cruzeiro becomes the cruzeiro novo.

1986 - three zeros are dropped and the cruzeiro novo becomes the cruzado.

1989 - three more zeros are dropped and the cruzado becomes the cruzado novo - later renamed the cruzeiro for no good reason.

1993 - three zeros are dropped from the cruzeiro which becomes known as the cruzeiro real.

1994 - the cruzero real is replaced by the real, worth 2.75 old cruzeiros reais.
