BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - China is to set up four super-ministries as part of its political reform efforts aimed at streamlining decisions and boosting efficiency, the pro-Beijing Hong Kong-based newspaper Ta Kung Pao reported, citing a source familiar with the matter.

Under a draft plan approved by the Communist Party's 17th Central Committee yesterday, this will entail the establishment of super ministries for energy, industry, transport and the environment, the source said.

It will be submitted to the legislature, or the National People's Congress (NPC), next week, the source added.

The paper didn't provide details on how the four ministries will be formed or what powers they would hold.
