Check these charts, Jay, showing what happened to various things during the '87 crash. Guess which did well:

Based on your takings you could have the luxury of keeping a good bit around for sentimental reasons, plus your numismatics and watches. Maybe not enough to cover yourself with in the bathtub though -g- At least take some photos of the hoard before you dump it, for the great grandkids

TJ, you don't need to part with your olde worlde Au and do without. Au in the 21st century is going to be highly successful and already has been so far. Au on sale here: kddi.com

They have gained a lot of ground against D'oh!CoMo for years with Au's CDMA2000 QUALCOMM phragmented photon cyberphone technology and it's only since DCM got into W-CDMA in a big way that the gains by Au have slowed.

Au of the Aztec variety was fine. Au of the cyberspace era is gung ho with millions swarming in to enjoy the revolution.

While China wallows around with their dopey TD-SCDMA going nowhere, Japan surges ahead using 21st century gold.

China could go into financial relativity theory hyperdrive with 450MHz OFDM/CDMA by QUALCOMM, but they lack imagination and co-operative natures. They think stealing intellectual property and ring-fencing serfs with "CDMA with Chinese characteristics" is the way to do well.

Plus ca change,
Mqurice
