You get lunacy and hate only at the extremes. You get ignorance and stupidity, factors that he left out, across the spectrum. Well lunacy and hate might themselves be considered extreme, and yes they tend to cluster more among people we would consider the extremes of various political spectrums including the conventional left/right one. But its not like being between two different ideas excludes you from either lunacy or hate. I wouldn't say you find them only from the positions that are the extremes of the left/right axis, just that they seem to be more common there.

I think that all too often, that which is more likely attributable to incompetence or an inability to apply critical logic is seen as evil. I dislike the way some on the right say that liberals are hell bent on destroying America (for example), but I'm also not happy when I hear the words "fascist" and "nazi" being thrown around by some on the left. - Allen
