">>Where did I state anything about fixed value of gold?"

You didn't "state" anything... you (unless someone else is using your account) asked me the following:

">> I will ask why this to you is socialistic?

And I told you.. price fixing of any private market and making it government controlled is socialistic...

Now do I believe the government has no role in making private goods accessible to its citizens, and/or to prevent market abuses (monopolies.. trusts.. etc)?? Absolutely not!!

I truly believe that there needs to be government involvement in ensuring that price manipulations do not occur in a manner detrimental to the public good, or the nation's economic health.

A prime example of this would be government subsidization of energy independence. And we have this.. but the stupidity (vote mongering?) of this administration has led us down the wrong path (ie: ethanol).

And back to the topic of this thread.. the government has a definite interest in preventing predatory lending practices and excessive credit expansion based upon real estate values.
