That is not as absurd as you make it out to be. Barack's father left when he was two years old and he was raised by a white mother and white grand parents. He went to school with mostly white kids in HS, college, and law school.

Unless you think there is/are gene(s) that makes a person black, just when did Barack choose to be black?
