It doesn't seem a brilliant time for autoworkers to be going on strike. They'll find themselves out of a job and out of a house too. They'll also find that the cushy life isn't an entitlement in general.

Even if they don't go on strike, they'll probably be out of a job because people won't want to buy monster vehicles with oil at $100 a barrel and job prospects dwindling and debts mounting as mortgagees turn on them.

But that's people for you and why the downturn could turn into your long-predicted biblical instruction opportunity. Politicians will act with electorates to make things even worse because they are ignorant, greedy, and lack intelligence.

It's an ill wind that blows nobody good. Driving should become much easier as the financially disabled are eliminated from the roads. Companies selling little, efficient vehicles will do well.

Cyberspace will accelerate. Mobile cyberspace will boom. Watch young people with mobile cyberspace and then watch middle-aged and older people. The trend is a veritable human tsunami. It's not just "communication", it's culture. Look at you reading this right now. You can't do that via SUV, or even little vehicle. You need a 450MHz OFDM turbocharged multi-pixelated Mirasol phragmented photon cyberphone to really be enjoying the process. You will own one. Not yet and probably not supplied by the backward Made in China Neanderthals pushing their dopey TD-SCDMA which is running worse than a Model T. But you will. Heck you could have two free ones though I might have to put a time limit on the offer to give you some encouragement.

Go on, phone Hu Jintao and arrange a meeting with him, you, me and some people from QUALCOMM and we'll get it going. China would make $1 trillion from it in the fist decade of operations.

Brazil will hold GM but there's need for downsize US operations. Else profits there go to heaven. We are importing from Ford, GM and Nissan Mexico. Brazil has a trade agreement with it.

That maximizes output of factories in LATAM which are gaining economy of scale. Compare that with before a tiny factory producing 50.000 cars in every country...

That until the Chinese does to cars what they've been doing with motorcycles...
