Karen -

It's funny, because most of the time when I've heard Obama referred to as possibly being the first black president, I've thought, "Except that he's only half black. He's also half white."

I'm reminded of an episode of The Larry Sanders Show. (For those who aren't familiar with that show, I'd recommend looking it up, and then renting some episodes from NetFlix or wherever).

On one show, a guest host (Jon Stewart, I believe) has brought in a musical act that upsets the woman from "the network". It's an all black rap group, and she timidly objects to them. The producer, played with cunning and evil sarcasm by Rip Torn, says, "What's wrong with them?"

"They're too urban for Larry's audience," she says.

The producer grins devilishly and says, "Maybe I should call my good friend Lenny Kravitz. He's only half urban."
