"A lot of people think Obama is white"?

You've got to be kidding. What Biden meant was that Obama isn't ghetto, not that he isn't black. Lots of black (or if you prefer "brown") people aren't ghetto but aren't white either. To say someone is "white" when they aren't seems pretty insulting to me. It's perfectly fine to be whatever color you are. Pretending people aren't the color they are seems strange (and racist) to me. I mean it's great to be whatever color you happen to be, but calling black or brown people "white" seems quite insulting, or delusional.

Black is NOT synonymous with "ghetto". So Obama can be black, or brown, and lots of other great things too.

>>I might have digressed a little, but what I am trying to say is that black is indeed just a state of mind. It has no meaning in terms of biology, genetics, or logic.<<

Mary -

Science does recognize genetic and biological differences that correlate to three racial groups; caucasoid, mongoloid, and negroid. Anthropologists classify ancient skulls as belonging to these three groups, and can generally tell you where a particular person came from, or at least where the forebears of the person came from, based on examining the skull.

I agree that it doesn't really make one whit of difference whether Obama is considered white or black by anyone else. It certainly has no bearing on his qualifications for holding public office.
