You will see the retirement benefits for union municipal workers macheted back to market levels.

This is a legacy of lower than market wages in the government sector. In exchange they were offered better than normal retirement benefits. This was a short-sighted move by local voters, because it saved them money now at the expense of later.

This problem is part of the Ronald Reagan disease which convinced voters they could have wars, increased services, and tax cuts as well. Republicans will need to lose their welfare-mentality.

In some cases, wages of government workers are now comparable to the private sector, in addition to the better retirement benefits. Pressure will soon be on to fix this anomaly in the near future as the Ronald Reagan debt-mirage fades.
