Yes I do, I'm an EE who designs electic motors and their controls.

I'm not saying it could be accomplished in a year or two. It could certainly be accomplished in the time span of the Iraq war.

If the government claimed they were going to fund $2T over 10 years in a given area of technology, what do you think any self-respecting inventive American would do?

Please note that the government could fund it out right for that figure, not factoring in VC money chasing it, or consumers buying it.

We would not replace fuel for airlines, although that is way smaller than domestic production, and in fact could I suppose be replaced by biofuel, although I'm no fan of biofuel as produced in the USA.
