"A great match was an Asian with a Jewish mix. "

In that case I would think it would be the cultures.

While you can't lump all "Asians" together (the Hmong, after all, are frequently truly terrible in their support of their children's educations), many Asians push their children mercilessly in school- and of course that can really keep the grades up. The Jewish faith requires a lot of study in and of itself, and the Jewish community has generally been pretty favorably disposed toward higher education (hence all those jokes about Jewish mothers wanting doctors and lawyers).

It's sometimes hard to separate out the role of culture, but in this case, I'd be willing to guess it played a big role.

Just FYI, for those interested, Asians are now better represented than whites at UC Berkeley despite their much smaller (approx 11%) proportion of the Ca population:

berkeley.edu

"The entering class of freshman and transfer students is projected to be 36.4 percent Asian and Pacific Islander; 31.6 percent Caucasian; 12.4 percent Chicano/Latino; 3.5 percent Filipino, 3.3 percent African American; 0.6 percent Native American and 4.6 percent international, with the remainder declining to report ethnicity or checking "other." See more details on the entering class."

I don't know about the higher plain of existence...

I didn't intend to sound all New Age...

I was thinking of people who are so evolved that, not only do they have zero prejudice, but they are also capable of loving and marrying people from other cultures and races.

That's a higher plane than the norm in my book.
