I agree. What can we expect from Washington over the next few decades?? More war? More statism/socialism/government spending?? What will that do to the dollar.... I think it is safer to hold gold and silver rather than let the taxation through inflation whittle away (or hack away) at any savings. After all, what will Obama/Clinton/McCain do when President... stop the wars, stop the expansion of social programs, stop the printing presses??? Yeah, right. I'm betting on Washington doing the wrong thing and then might as well profit from it.
