Dan, your whole theory is laughable. By far the largest component of R&D costs is headcount. Intel hasn't laid off engineers every time AMD fell behind, and then hired brand new ones every time AMD came back. On no planet is that considered "good business sense". The whole idea is absurd.

Besides, I already showed you that Intel's R&D budget has been on the increase on all the same years you mentioned as part of your "theory".
