I'm more sold on food shortages than oil. Oil has alternatives. Food doesn't. Given that gubba mint says we should burn our food to replace oil, the position strengthens even more.

The Ag Chem group can be split into the fertlizer co's and then the GMO seed co's. Two different industries, both responding to the same phenomenon.

MON should really be grouped in the biotech companies. It's primary source of growth is in genetic engineering of new seeds.

MON owns this space, has about 75% market share. What MSFT is for OS, Intel is for processors, MON is for GMO. The #2 company is SYT. My exposure to this area is SGMO, which is a pure biotech company partnered with Dow chemical.

SGMO has a ring of patents around Zn-finger technology, which I think will have a quick adoption in the plant world.
