A .375 is pretty powerful. I have a .458 magnum and the kick is pretty bad.

I remember my friend in Alaska had two "brush guns" that he would alternate carrying when he thought bear would be a factor:
468 Weatherby and 505 Gibbs

I was going to fire them one day and reconsidered when my travelling companion was knocked down by the Gibbs on the first shot.
