"Sometimes I think it might be graver than that. Our civilization is in the crosshairs."

Not quite yet. The strength of our species is the ability to extrapolate and see where things might go awry. This enables us to avoid a lot of cliffs. Our weakness is the more limited view that it isn't worth the cost to avoid problems until it is indisputable that there could be a problem. Which means we still drive off cliffs.

I think we are passing the second sign post that we are one the wrong path. How many more there are, I dunno. But, I am pretty sure we have more. If only because the best solution doesn't mean billions die.

So, in my estimation we aren't close to the cliff edge. But, the longer we wait, the more it costs. Given that I am a short term pain, long term gain sort of guy I am all for doing something now.

The trick is convincing the Tench's. Shorty? Forget about it. Same with Hugh. Harris, maybe.
