What brought me to the attention of the US cityscape was watching Al Jazeera. Al Jazeera displays the US as no other media.

Sociology is one of my favorites subjects. Having lived in 1st to 4th worlds gave a good perspective to look at the world as a whole.

Looking to the cityscape of a given country is like a stool test. You see what was eaten. What bacteria is there what kind of diseases lurks inside the defecator.

I see the onset of a lost decade in the US. It will be part of the nudging towards the ultimate return to the natural size. First blue collars in the 80s. Now the white collars. And the remaining blue collars wiped out.

The Europeans that are used to support people in those social democracies are more able to deal with this problem that the US.

In the US the abundance let free market unbridled. In Europe they had to implemented and used some sort of socialization. Thus are able to deal with their own downturn.

The US points more to a Brazilianization (I mean the old Brazil of yore). Brazilianization is what we call there:

capitalismo selvagem.

In capitalismo selvagem set up, each one fights for its limited share of the economy. Governing elite, civil servants, industrialists, everyone fighting for the limited amount of money.

Now -under demographic window conditions, Brazil has moved to a de-Brazilianization. That is capitalism less savage.

Lula has just release a poverty alleviation plan of 6.4 billion. Slowly we will become more civilized sort of economy.

In short, under a lost decade situation social fabric is disturbed a lot. Note as well that Japanese society has coped well with its lost decade, which is the first one, they have a few more coming as they return to their own natural size.
