Have you had the experience of losing a word altogether? No matter how many times you relearn it, you can't recall it when you need it.

I have for years used a product called ClipMate. It allows fast storage of clipboard items into organized folders. I have one called "words." There are some words that for the life of me I just cannot bring to mind no matter how often I use them. So I keep a list of them there. When I draw a blank, I have just to scan through the list to find it. "Contrived" is one, and "circumspect." They're not obscure or difficult words but somehow they hide from me. Of course, that trick doesn't help when I'm away from my computer. And there are new words to be added to the list all the time, assuming I can eventually find them in the first place. I'll bet a good ten percent of my time on line is spent tracking down something I can't remember and is bugging me.

The game to which I am addicted is Free Cell. It's both mindless and mindful at the same time. I have a game going in a background window all the time and I play it while "watching" TV or in between surfing expeditions. I use Free Cell Wizard, which has many variations on the game and some convenience features.

The humor in almost all of your posts continually makes me smile. I just love the way you express yourself and can see how popular your column must have been.

Yes,about forgetting words, much less names. I was at a Al Anon meeting last night. The word qualifier was used instead of the word husband,sister,son,daugher,etc..to identify the person who is the addict in your life.
Last night I woke up and do you think that I could recall that word.. I just chalked it up to the damn brain.

Yes I think we all have to keep actively interested in everything around us and going to the health centers to work out and get that other deteriorating organ, the heart, working is good too.
