here is the real story according to my sources in the ground: The Lebanese firm Investcom- Spacetel, got the license as usual African business, a little present here, a first class ticket to Paris there, a few dinners, ah, you know those deals...

As the Benin government changed, then look into the deal. The local Telco was down in the red real good. Actually Spacetel was charging local calls for international calls and the difference was being paid by the government telco! That is the goverment. Lebanese out of the picture the government went after MTN to get the money.

Thus the payment of the (official) history in the previous posting.

Most likely there will be more dirt under the carpet of the Investcom that perhaps were solved nicely or perhaps still to surface.

The $5.5bn Investcom got, they hold 10% of MTN, and made some other investments such as buying Façonnable
