Dale, I'm hearing that 'power blocs' within the Dem party are re-assessing Obama somewhat. One thing being analyzed is the voting patterns and the main red flag going up is the large numbers of young (under 30) voters as well as first time voters. This is a good pattern, of course, but has to be weighed against the fickleness of these voters, historically speaking.

Along with this is the fact that many of Obama's biggest caucus/delegate wins are in states that will most likely stay in the red column.

The much bigger cause for concern is the Rezko situation. The whole thing just stinks no matter how you look at it. It raises all kinds of suspicions to even dispassionate observers when you look at the facts of it. It is the perfect fodder for the Rep smear merchants.

And no matter what one believes to be the truth of it, the danger to Obama right now is that his reputation, i.e. his fate, is in the hands of a corrupt individual, under indictment and losing his fortunes, who can say whatever he chooses with impunity.

What's to stop such a person from accepting a multi-million dollar bribe from Republican operatives in exchange for testimony that might destroy Obama's credibility?

Such testimony could come at the end of the trial, closer to the fall election and after Obama is the nominee.

The fact that Obama is so vulnerable here is causing growing consternation in the party.....or so I've been told by people close to Hillary's campaign. It's even causing some defections among those who were hoping for a Clinton/Obama ticket.
