KT,

It would appear that Obama has an insurmountable pledged delegate lead. So I'm sure he will make the case that the super delegates should not go against the will of the people.

But there is always the issue of Florida and Michigan.

That's two extremely important states that are not being counted.

You can argue that they knew going in that if they held their primaries too early they would not count, but at the same time, that ruling never anticipated that they could be critical to the outcome. I'm sure the democrats don't want to select the wrong candidate.

I could see a do over in those two states.

It reminds me of the NBA rule about leaving the bench.

If you leave the bench during a brawl, you are automatically suspended for 1 game. The rule is designed to prevent players from accidentally escalating a fight during an emotional moment even if they have perfectly respectable intentions and are only trying to break one up or help players by going on to the court.

The flaw was exposed when two Miami and Knicks players got into a fight at one end of the count and several Knicks players came on the court at the other end (about a million miles away from the fight and other Miami players) just to see what was going on and if their teammate was OK. They were suspended and eliminated from the playoffs even though they were the better team.

You sometimes find yourself in a debate about "letter of the law" vs. "intent of a law" and which result is the "just" one.

Nobody thinks that McCain can win, but nobody thinks that Hillary or Obama would be electable in pre-2008 America. Now we're gonna bust with the Putney Swope sequel? (with McCain playing Putney, thank you very much.)
