yes.....we are being forced into being a nation of savers a la japan after their bubble burst....asset depreciation coupled with price inflation for non-discretionary items is forcing people into spending down and taking the 'savings' and investing, (at least the financially stable ones)....for many others living paycheck to paycheck (a huge number in this country), it just means a lower standard of living. period.
