I don't think we should underestimate the ability of the government and its institutions to push problems out into the future. I've been waiting for close to a decade for the day the rest of the world screamed "we've had enough" of the easy money etc.... and stopped accepting our IOUs. I think we may be there, but I'm not sure. Of course, they will actually continue to accept our currency and buy our assets, bonds etc.... but "at what price". The extent of the weakness of the dollar in the face of recent rate cuts seems to be suggesting they've finally had enough. The market may finally force some responsible behavior in Washington and at the Fed. (I hope so)
