But convenience is not the issue here, communication is a problem that can be solved with technology, not trashing the system.

I'm big on technology. Lots of upside potential there.

We have Kaiser HMO, and it is very nice to not have to pay anything but a co-pay.

I have Federal BC/BC and now Medicare. Haven't used the latter yet. I signed up for Part A and Part B. I know I won't get my money's worth out of Part B particularly given that I got stuck with extra premiums under means testing. But I am extremely, extremely hassle intolerant. I'm so hassle intolerant that I'm annoyed at having to deal with the statements they send me in the mail and I don't cash the checks they send me until I have a few years worth and have to ask for replacements.

I want it all to be transparent. No, not transparent, invisible. I know that with all that coverage I won't be bothered with anything. No bills, no co-payments, no checks, no nothing in the mail. They can work it out amongst themselves--not my problem. I'm willing to pay for peace of mind. I don't imagine my approach has much of a constituency. So nice to have choice.

I have an unusual insurance scheme.

I get a certain number of dollars per year. Any covered medical expenses come out of those dollars, with no co pay or deductible. If I don't use all the dollars they roll over and get added to the dollar amount for the next year.

Then after that I'm out of pocked 100% for a certain amount.

Then after that I am covered by fairly conventional insurance.

Its an interesting setup, it seems to be set up in such a way as to discourage over use of health care but it does pay for preventive care visits without using up your balance.

Someone else did a better job of describing it. The dollar amounts aren't exactly the same (they vary by employer) but otherwise its correct.
