try medicare
Luckily, I haven't yet had to try Medicare but I am getting closer. :)

I have heard you say this, and I was thinking about it last night- that most of the problem with gov't programs is that they seem to get abused - that it's not the program itself. We hear so much about overbilling, false billings, double billings. And also they are having the same enormous problem that all insurers are having-- that of soaring costs. THis at the same time my many Boomer friends and I will be entering the system. Without controlling costs, MEdicare has the same problem, except this time, the top percentage of tax payers will have to absorb that cost as well as their own. We have got to somehow control presecription drug costs.

So perhaps it's not the program design as much as that I don't trust Congress to deal with the issues that will affect the cost of the program? They haven't seemed very willing to address the issue thus far- adding only a strange and complex Rx program.
