I've often thought that family eating habits go downhill without a stay at home spouse. Most families need 2 incomes to get by so convenient food gets to trump healthy food because time isn't available for shopping and preparation.

"goodies that your exquisite taste demands not being available to you"

I'm thinking you have a rather odd view of what I'm talking about. While I do, indeed, like luxuries, I don't consider whole grain breads to be one of them, nor do I think of them as something "that [my] exquisite taste demands".

The *wisdom* of the nutrition people is not that crazy. Vegetables and fruits and whole grains are good for you- we've know that for ages, and ages. Fads may come and go- but some things don't change. You can bring in the exceptions, but much nutritional wisdom continues to be true.

When you have a nation as obese as ours it is a public health problem. One of the functions of government is to look after the public health- imo. Maybe you don't find that function very important- I've no idea, but I consider it pretty crucial- especially where children are concerned.
