I was thinking about the proponents of making Medicare our country's single-payer system. Conversion to Medicare would be a mind-blowing shock for you, me, and the rest of the well insured.

Perhaps, but the virtues of covering the uninsured and lowering the overall medical costs are very large. Moreover, and this was my point, not too well made, any implementation of medicare for all should (a) come with a very high floor of support and (b) offer ways for those who wish and can afford it to add supplemental packages.

Thus, I'm back to the big problem being the transition problem, of going from an work based system to a general tax system. I do think, if the rhetoric continues as it is now, we could find ourselves being offered a variety of ways to make the transition.

And we could easily find the large corporations leading the charge.
