There where gas lines in the 70s. Now we raise prices instead. Back then there where price controls.

Are you implying that there would be gas lines now if we had price controls?

Sorry, there were no price controls in 79. There were some in 73 which is actually made the shortage worse. The oil companies were not very willing to produce gas at a loss.
