A bunch of my buddies at the time were merchant marines. They were on tankers in the Atlantic just sitting and weren't allowed shore leave.

I doubt there would be little difference in gas lines around such a large city. Go back and read my posts. It did not include New York City and its suburbs. The first crunch did not cause lines in small towns such as Opp, AL. But the 79 one did.
