This is ridiculous! It reminds me of a couple stocks I owned that did PIPEs about 10 years back.

Like clockwork, NT is down 5% a day, everyday of late. A dollar worth of NT stock (cash on the books) is selling for 83 cents today. Sigh! At some point it becomes a buyout target...but I'm afraid any buyout price will be so low it won't do me any good. arrgh!

I suspect Nortel missing the analyst estimate for quarterly earnings contributed more to Nortel's sell off than the big non-cash charge. Furthermore this a bad time for companies that sell to telephone companies. Look at how poorly Alcatel-Lucent and Tellabs are doing. I don;t know if this is a good time to buy Nortel but if any one does he/she better have a lot of patience. From 2002 the last bottom in the stock market to the recent top in 2007 took 5 years and that is about the amount of time it will take to see if buying Nortel now is a good decision.
