Every attempt to strenghten America's gun control laws is met with resistance by the NRA.

Not every attempt, they support certain gun laws, and the opposition to the laws they do oppose has been a very good thing because they are bad laws. Someone who is going to commit murder won't care to much about also violating a gun law, but the average citizen will, so gun laws disarm the average citizen without doing very much about the violent criminals (other than giving them disarmed victims). Maybe the cops will catch the murderer later but that doesn't help the victim much.

Oh crap. You get the damn guns out of circulation and the crime and murder rates will go down. And don't come back with the premise that only the crooks will have guns......even if that were true, the murder rate will still drop.....and it ain't true.
