No a trade deficit isn't a transfer or wealth because its an exchange of one form of wealth for another.

A transfer would be giving wealth away for nothing.


It costs ~$10 to get a barrel of oil out of the ground. We are paying >$100 a barrel.

Get real man, we are running huge trade deficits month after month. That US cash is being used to build infrastructure, space programs and a military in China, wealth across the ME and Asia. And it is wealth not available to this country.

If we had balanced trade you might have an argument; you don't. You don't have to trust me you can trust virtually every economist in the world.
