A frontal assault on earmarks would be a welcome dimension to a McCain presidency. If he weren't so wedded to Iraq and likely to appoint SC judges further to the right than I like, I wouldn't have much problem with him.

It's my old drumbeat about how I could easily vote for a moderate Republican if one ever landed on the ballot again. McCain's adamant declarations about his conservatism don't quite qualify. But he would be an improvement over the Bush-Cheney-Rove axis, depending on who he appoints to key jobs.

Obama's criticism of Washington's insider culture is a linchpin of his campaign; he supports earmarks only for public entities such as schools and hospitals.

Couple that position with full transparency for all "earmarks" and it's a policy go.

I saw her name on the list that the Seattle reporters investigated.

Ear marks are evidently not bad in and of themselves as Karen has pointed out. IF THEY GO TO A WORTHWHILE project.

The two reporters about whom I speak just uncovered places
where the money went where it was an expensive and useless undertaking..Cost taxpayers a lot PLUS one soldier died as a result of the polyester t shirt melting down into plastic on his body.

Maybe the politician making the award should look with a little more depth into the project he or she is supporting.
