Who CARES if they "strain" Party Unity? Party Unity is what GOT us into this mess. The Republican Party was SO unified that a MORON was able to ride it into 2 terms. Let's BUST things up and BREAK things down so we can start getting Presidents that can appeal to intellect once again and not to "I'm a Republican and I have to vote for this guy or I'm a Democrat and I have to vote for this guy". When we get to the point where everybody says "I'm an OBJECTIVE voter, so let me look at all the candidates and figure out which one appeals most to me on an intellectual level", THEN we will have the type of democracy that our Founders were looking for.
