One clear winner is wind and another is geothermal.


The downside to wind is the same as solar - large areas of land are required to produce power. Not to mention the nimby politicians like kennedy.

Geothermal is awesome and has been used in some countries as a primary energy source - like Iceland with over 25% geo power. The only real downside to geo is you need to be in a volcanically active area - sort of it's own issue. :-)
