I think the HOA fees are $700 a month. (Not including the mega bill that comes in about every 10th year as a special assessment because the hurricane washed away the pool and damaged the front of the building)

Exactly my position and views. I can rent a friend's 3-bedroom beach house, a four-hour drive away, any time I want to (except summer high season when I have to reserve in advance) for $80-$100 a night. Leave my own kayak there.

I like to feel free to fly or cruise wherever there's a good deal going. (For a REALLY good deal, I got transcontinetal airline tickets--two roundtrip nonstop to California--on something called Skybus for a total of $72 for BOTH, next month).

No thank you, no hassles with break-ins, hurricanes, leaky faucets for me.
