Danish companies are generally much smaller than American companies, and there may be other differences, but I don't think we do things in a better way.

I think the American logic has been for a while that consumption is the largest part of the economy, so in order to boost the economy, we boost consumption, which reduces exports and increases imports. If you cut down on consumption, focus will shift back to exports, and everything will become great again. It's not fun to cut down on consumption, but it's the only way to cure overconsumption.
