Not in Floozyana, where I live. We understand human nature down here a lot better than in the North and other straight-laced places.

Our current GOP Senator was recently caught red-handed as a visitor to a brothel which the FBI was monitoring. He was a regular, a frequent flyer. A Bible thumping guy, righteous and self-important. No problem, we understand these kinds of things here in New Orleans. After a couple days of laughter and snickering (a Senator had to pay? Jeez, with that kind of position, he shouldn't have to), the thing died out of our collective boredom with this kind of stuff.

Have our mayor call New Orleans "chocolate city," however, and we are now talking about fighting words, things worth getting serious about.

I know a lot of folks, mostly members of the Bar, who visited this particular house of ill repute. When the madam threatened to release a list of the customers, things went her way legal-wise, very smoothly, very light sentences. There were a lot of things swept under the rug.

If the list had been published, major, major national scandal. Lots of work for the divorce guys as the wives, while forgiving of a Senator or anyone else, are tough on husbands.

No, I never visited.
