I guess if I had to generalize I'd speculate that the 'Media' is not ESPECIALLY 'biased' in these matters (everyone has biases... the media's probably tend to mirror those of the society at large to a significant degree....) No, I'd say that their particular problem here is a general IGNORANCE about science (probably a lot of these journalism graduates were never big students of the physical sciences, and so their collective degree of understanding in these areas tends to be rather shallow), and a pronounced incentive toward pushing out SENSATIONALIST headlines and such (unfortunately often without bothering to understand the subject matter)... as their 'game', like so many other's, is still about PROFITS.
