Heck, WaPo didn't even have an editorial on it. And the WSJ and NYT sonorously outlined Spitzer's misbehaviors past and present but couldn't bring themselves to use the "r" word. The NY Daily News (Hit the road, john ... Just get out) and the NY Post (Eliot Spitzer must resign) had no such difficulty.

The NYT's disappointment in Spitzer was obvious. They SO wanted him to pursue his "reformist agenda", and how tragic is the fact that "Mr. Spitzer’s targets are now relishing their tormentor’s torment. Those on Wall Street who fumed at having to make their world fairer for ordinary shareholders can now chortle with satisfaction in their private enclaves. For New York Republicans, who have blocked some of the most important reforms in Albany, it is hard to imagine the private glee — especially at a moment when they are fighting desperately to hold their majority in the State Senate."

Spitzer clearly doesn't have a monopoly on hypocrisy. Do you think the NY Republicans are sounding out Giuliani for a run for the Governor job?
