I was there in the early 80's and that town sucked. Treated us like we were lower then whale shit.

If America had a leader then, they wold have probably made a similar point with Puerto Rico rather than shuttering a base the Navy said was critical for preparedness. If natives had any idea the economic impact they stood to lose they would have run the liberal activists off the island and dumped them into the sea.

It is another reminder to be careful what you wish for.
