solar and wind both have their place but it's really quite silly to think they will ever be more then a fringe producer. Not drilling for oil off FL and in AK and not trying to develop shale oil is in my opinion approaching the point of being criminal. Not developing and building the next generation of nuclear reactors is just as criminal.

We will never have an energy policy that makes sense as long as it's being run by activist's via the court system, it's really as simple as that.

Like I said - lets just see how the Airbus deal works out. I suspect it will be a non issue.

<<As for alternative energy, why don't you listen to an engineer who knows more than you do about alternative energy, and all of the fallacies surrounding it>>

<<It takes oil to run solar systems plus most parts of the country aren’t warm enough to generate enough energy to run a solar system effectively. The very same problems apply with windmills, not enough wind to make them effective.>>

We're not going to totally kick the need for oil - at least during my life. What will happen is technology will improve and make Solar & Wind power an efficient, cost effective and viable source of energy. Look at all the technology advances we've made in the last 100 years. My grandfather was born in 1899 (there was an adoption but I wont go into that). During his life he witnessed changes that ranged from cars to TV's, airplanes, commercial flight and putting a man on the moon. Maybe its just me but I find it hard to believe that mankind has reached the end of the technological road. In my lifetime Solar power, wind power and other sources of energy not yet conceived will take hold. Oil is the flavor of the day but it wont always be the primary and preferred energy source. I doubt that in 1899 that engineers thought we'd make it to the moon in 70 years. We will find better, safer sources of energy so why fight it?? It's going to happen and its really not a political issue. It's an advancement issue.

"not enough wind to make them effective."

Put them in DC and the states' capitals. There should be more than enough hot air to solve our energy crisis. <;-)
