What's frustrating is that oil is pegged to the dollar which is very weak compared to the major currencies in the world. So the increase is killing us but having only a minor impact on Europe and Japan. When I talk to my German friends, things are doing well [ie the house sale I posted yesterday]and they can't understand why we are so gloomy.

That is weird and unusual. Been around a while and seen a lot but not exactly whats happening now. I don't really know what to make of it... except that it's not good.

Did you ever chart oil prices vs gold?

Try it, and not just short term.
Quite educational.

When you talk to your German friends, just ask about how German gas prices are performing - and carry forward your feed back here, undistorted.
