Sorry.........didn't mean to offend, and did mean to go back and change that to "some" or "not all." And you're right, some men feel that way and others feel like you do........my husband included, who has always been very respectful and a gentleman. I have been exposed to both kinds, and the kind other than yourself and others here willingly or unwillingly have created a bad name for men. Just as women who are whores or submissive to their husbands who visit whores have created the image that women are pushovers or chattel. It isn't fair or accurate to stereotype but I have been told that deep down inside most men consider women whores. Not a nice thing to tell a woman, but I have heard that from more than one man. Men who were very close to me and realized I was curious about the differences between the sexes and that they could have an intelligent and logical conversation with me, and that I would not have a hissy fit. edit: I also realize this is something that "should not be discussed in mixed company." and "isn't an appropriate subject", and will always be a subject that divides the sexes, and that it can't be talked about honestly, so I'll drop it now.

Thanks goodness I am in the generation of women that appreciate those nice manners, Ken. Most men I know do the same things you mentioned! It's just a nicer way .... For those underlying reasons, when our boys were young, I wouldn't let them watch the "3 Stooges".....I figured they could figure out themselves how to pull hair, slap each other, toss pies at each other, etc etc, without having a TV program not only show those things, but to allow them being done with no consequence. Part of the reason we have such mayhem today with some of the younger folks is that they not only have grown up with those kind of programs, but now they have "blood and guts" and "wham, bang, shoot em' up" videos and video games. The young are much more impressionable than we give them credit for being.
