Hoover disliked Popov for several reasons. 1. His cover was as an international playboy, and Hoover hated playboys. The fact that Popov didn't mind sleeping with movie stars and playing in high stakes casino games helped him establish his cover and keep the Germans in tow. 2. He was a member of the Yugoslav nobility, and Hoover had no use for titled folks. 3. He had worked through the OSS, via British Intelligence, and Hoover hated the OSS, thinking their task should have been handed to him. 4. Hoover knew he was a double agent, but may have thought he was a triple. 5. I hear Dusko looked better in the blue evening gown than J. Edgar did. That one is VBG.
